While Career Day looked a little different this year at Friends Christian Elementary School, one of our first grade classes took the opportunity to make it a special virtual experience, but onsite.
Let us explain…
This school year is already proving to be a memorable one with new experiences for both our teachers and students. Mrs. Kohlenberger’s class used the opportunity (and some amazing technology) to host an inspiring career day for our students. Parents signed up for a time slot, and when it was their turn, they popped up in the classroom (on-screen) either in their home offices or onsite in their office offsite!
Our students got to learn about so many amazing careers and were inspired by what they heard. They even got to ask questions! From seeing a Helicopter on a roof, to a Pastor, a Counselor, an Office Manager and so much more! During each presentation, our students drew inspiring pictures of what they learned. It was a special sight to see how engaged and excited each and every student was to learn about all of the different careers.
Our 4th Graders Heard from a Missionary
Our 4th graders in Mrs. Orrs class were encouraged as they heard from a Missionary who served time in Kenya after hearing God’s calling to pursue the role. After sharing her story of how honored she is to share the love of Jesus with Kenyans, what being a Missionary is like, and how she came to be one, our students were given the floor to ask her some very special questions.
“How beautiful are the feet of them who take good news” Isaiah 52:7
What made it a full circle moment was the fact that Mrs. Orr’s class shared in chapel last week during “Missions Week.” They shared impactful stories about missionaries long ago and today that have taken their beautiful feet to share the love of Jesus all over the world. Being able to talk to a Missionary right in their classroom was the perfect way to end the week. After the interaction, our students were encouraged to share the love of Jesus wherever they go– whether it be in their neighborhoods, in their community, locally and one day, maybe globally!
Where will you take your beautiful feet?
